Overview
Little Ruth Children’s Collection’s Author Visits + Story & Learning Labs bring joyful storytelling and hands-on learning into elementary classrooms, libraries, and educational and recreational programs.
Through engaging read-alouds, lively author Q&A, and interactive Story & Learning Labs, students explore stories in ways that feel playful, creative, and joyful, while building literacy, confidence, and connection with one another.
Visits run during the school year and in June through August in the summer. Dates are scheduled on a rolling basis.
Do you need financial support to bring us to your school? A limited number of are available each year as part of our national outreach.
What Is a Little Ruth Author Visit + Story Lab?
Each visit features a Little Ruth Children’s Collection author leading a high-energy, interactive Story Lab experience designed especially for K–3 learners.
A typical visit includes:
A classroom or assembly-style author read-aloud
A student Q&A session with the author
One or more interactive Story Learning Labs where students:
Explore story ideas together
Take part in hands-on activities
Work collaboratively in simple, playful ways
These experiences are designed to feel fun and accessible, sparking children’s enthusiasm for reading and learning.

Activities are flexible and can be adapted for classrooms, libraries, multipurpose spaces, and group learning settings.
Timing & Format
Visits launch in February 2026 and continue through November of the 2026–2027 school year.

Elementary schools (public, charter, and independent)
School libraries
Home enrichment programs and learning communities
After-school and enrichment programs
Summer camps serving elementary-age students
These experiences are designed for group learning environments and can be adapted to a variety of program structures.
