Homeschool & Consumer Sales Representative

Team: Business Development
Time Commitment: Part-Time | 20 hours per week
Work Style: Remote with in-person events, pop-ups, conventions, home-based and neighborhood settings, and engagement with online homeschool communities; some evenings and weekends required

Role Overview

The Homeschool & Consumer Sales Representative is responsible for growing Little Ruth Children’s Collection’s direct-to-family and homeschool market, with a focus on helping parents and learning groups find ready-to-use, hands-on materials that make reading and learning easier and more engaging at home.

This role is designed for someone who enjoys one-to-one conversations, understands how parents make purchasing decisions, and is motivated by helping families leave with something they can use right away. The role is product-led, with an emphasis on thoughtfully guiding families to confidently choose our products.

You will represent Little Ruth at homeschool events, conventions, pop-ups, through small-group and home-based conversations, and via follow-up to guide families and groups toward products and bundles that fit their needs.

In this role, you are responsible for actively building and managing a personal sales pipeline, cultivating relationships over time with families, homeschool groups, and community partners, and converting conversations into completed sales through consistent outreach and follow-up.

What You Sell

You will focus on Little Ruth’s consumer and homeschool offerings, including:

  • Activity kits (core product for individual families and groups, including repeat and subscription-style purchases)
  • Picture books and early readers (often bundled with activity kits and companion materials)
  • Curriculum and teaching guides to support homeschool planning and instruction (often bundled with picture books)
  • Multi-kit bundles for families with multiple children or ongoing use
  • Group and volume orders for homeschool co-ops, learning pods, and organized collectives
  • Optional white glove planning and support for organized groups
  • Story Labs and author visits for homeschool groups and learning collectives

Who You Work With

You will work directly with:

  • Homeschool parents and caregivers
  • Parent-led homeschool co-ops and learning pods
  • Small learning collectives and community education groups

Purchasing decisions are typically individual or small-group decisions, with an emphasis on ease, value, and immediate usefulness.

  • Balance immediate transactions with longer-term group and repeat-purchase opportunities

  • Participate in weekly or bi-weekly real-time working sessions with leadership
  • Provide clear updates on outreach activity, pipeline status, sales progress, and closed business
  • Collaborate with leadership to refine messaging, pitches, and sales approaches as the work evolves

  • Strong interpersonal skills and a warm, approachable presence
  • Organized, self-directed, and comfortable managing follow-up independently
  • Comfortable working remotely and managing event-based schedules
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends tied to events and family schedules

This role is well-suited for someone who enjoys helping families make practical decisions and is motivated by seeing products go home with children.
