Frank Kyle Major Life & Legacy
Written by Dee Write
August 8, 2023 Dear Frank:
You are truly the most wonderful human being I’ve ever known, and every day I got to spend being your wife was truly a blessing. I miss you. You are a beautiful person who is gone too soon, and our story was cut too short. I will do my best to continue writing the story you and I began by building forward with our kids, extended family, and friends.
No matter where life takes us, I know you are with us.
A little more than 3 months ago, I unexpectedly lost my loving husband, Frank K. Major. Frank was an incredible leader whose accomplishments as a Chief Technology Officer and Chief Information Officer transformed the ways in which we live our daily lives, from the conveniences we enjoy with online and mobile banking to the way we purchase homes and create inclusive neighborhoods and communities. Nevertheless, Frank was most proud to be a devoted husband, father, brother, son, and friend. He was an incredible light to his family and friends and, through his exemplary life, he inspired us to be our best selves. He was as kind (and funny) as he was brilliant, and we miss him dearly. I miss him deeply.
I want to thank everyone for the love and support you have given our family since Frank’s passing, and I want you to know that we truly appreciate your generous contributions to Byte Back in Frank’s memory. Every kind word, every effort, every outreach has touched us profoundly.
As we continue our transition to our “new normal,” our family continues to honor Frank’s memory by living our lives in a way that we believe will make him proud. Our kids continue to make wonderful accomplishments in their daily lives at work and in school, and we keep his memory alive in our family gatherings, quiet moments, and conversations. As Frank’s wife, I am committed to honoring his memory and all we were building together.
Frank’s and my beautiful life together inspired me to re-launch Little Ruth, a children’s book collection that allowed me to share my childhood experiences, as well as our children’s experiences, through storytelling. In fact, I created Little Ruth’s Dad, Kyle, in Frank’s image, life, and his nickname. Frank’s legacy as a wonderful husband and father continues to be the foundation of our family, and his story is at the core of every Little Ruth story.
Frank and I were partners in doing our very best to create a wonderful life for our children, and we were delighted to share our experiences with others through my creative expression. Frank was incredibly supportive of my decision to add our family’s lived experience to the diverse representation in children’s literature. In fact, Frank believed in Little Ruth so much that he planned to work with me on this (ad)venture! I am so lucky to have been his life partner, and it is truly my honor to present to you the Little Ruth Children’s Collection and Book Series in memory of Frank. Further, sharing the life that Frank and I built together with our children is not only my honor, but it is also healing for me as I navigate my new journey forward and cherish his memory.
If you are reading this article, thank you for taking time to do so. Frank and I truly believed that we all have more in common than that which separates us, and our shared values are at the core of every Little Ruth book—family, love, life, community, and doing our best to build a brighter future for the next generation. I hope you and your family enjoy the Little Ruth series and see your own lives reflected in the pages of Little Ruth books. If you are interested in continuing to read more of our story as we release new books, or if you feel and want to stay connected to us, I invite you to follow or connect with Little Ruth or connect with me, Dee Write, on Facebook, LinkedIn, or Twitter.
